Our Employability Coach, Lucy
Hello! I am Lucy Shaw, Purfleet’s new Employability Coach. I started off at The Purfleet Trust’s brilliant little shop in Fairstead as the Assistant Supervisor until I started this position 3 weeks ago. I am in love with my job already!
I am here to assist and support our clients back into work. I will be helping them by providing courses to go on to further their knowledge and help them gain skills. Encouraging volunteer work and providing in work support.
Working with the Workers Educational Association (WEA) we have two new courses, the first is an absolute beginners in IT incorporating the basics of photography and the other that I am especially looking forward to is the Filmability course where the clients will make a short film about homelessness, directing, writing, casting and acting the whole film themselves.
On Thursday the 9th of June, Joy Wylie and I went to The Forum in Norwich to represent Purfleet at the WEA’s Festival of learning. It was a brilliant day where we met lots of people and other charities fighting to promote essential skills training for adults and eradicate homelessness in Norfolk. I also learned of more courses that I can bring back to Purfleet to benefit our clients.
I am really looking forward to meeting more of you soon and if you would like to speak to me about any courses we offer, please call me on 01553 767829 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
