“Hello, I am Maureen Cooke (little Mo), a volunteer with Purfleet Trust.
After retirement I was eager to try to help in the community so decided to Google volunteering in admin and the computer came up with Purfleet. I have been here for 18 months and I assist Erna on reception every Wednesday. I really enjoy getting to know all the clients and look forward to seeing them each week. Every Wednesday is different so really enjoy the variation.”
Inspired by Mo’s experience? Would you also like to help people in need in your local community? Do you have skills or experience that you can share?
At Purfleet Trust we have a strong culture of volunteering and we are very grateful to all those who offer their time and skills to support our work.
We support homeless people to find solutions to their housing, employment, training and wellbeing needs. We rely on our range of committed volunteers to help us with all aspects of our work and you can volunteer as much or as little of your time as you like.
You can volunteer with us in a number of different ways. From offering your time in our charity shop, to helping out in day centre or offices, running workshops or helping at a fundraising events.
Volunteering is a great way to give back to your local community and make a real difference whilst doing something positive. As well as giving you a sense of fulfilment volunteering can also be a good way to boost your CV and your employment chances. You’ll also be helping us be there for more local people facing homelessness.
