An update from the Chief Executive

First and foremost, I hope this email finds you safe and well.

Life at Purfleet, like life in general for all of us, has not been the same since lockdown. As we all know, the situation with COVID-19 has been dynamic and that means the way we work has had to be too. We’ve all needed to adapt quickly but our fantastic team and amazing community have shown that together we can rise to that challenge.

We all know how important it is to have somewhere safe and comfortable to call home. In fact, we might all understand this a little bit more since so many of us have been spending more time there than ever.

We’ve been working hard to find a place to call home for our clients that had nowhere to go. We were very grateful to the Council and the venues that housed people from the beginning of lockdown – The Grange Hotel, Knights Hill Hotel, South Lynn Community Centre and Alexandra House.

In partnership with the Borough Council we have been able to move everyone from these temporary emergency beds and into the Travelodge in Kings Lynn. This means we have everyone we are supporting in one place and can have staff there all day to support people.

We have been so pleased to be able to build on our strong working relationship with the Borough Council and the hard work and dedication they have shown to reduce the impact on rough sleepers who are particularly vulnerable at this time has been inspiring.

Now more than ever we need to be there for our clients and our team have been there every day providing food, essential items and emotional and practical support – but we can only continue to be there for them thanks to supporters like you, our local community.
