Vital Fire Safety Workshops for Our Clients

Norfolk Fire & Rescue Service visited our Centre to provide vital safety workshops.

We’re proud to continue our partnership with Norfolk Fire & Rescue Service in 2026.

In December, the team from the King’s Lynn North Station joined us to provide a workshop to our clients on fire safety in the home and when rough sleeping, with dangers such as camping stoves. They then outlined the dangers of driving under the influence, something which they sadly see often during the Christmas period.

This workshop follows on from previous sessions they have delivered to our clients, on topics such as water safety during summer.

Visit to King’s Lynn North Fire Station

Following these successful workshops at our Centre, we were invited to King’s Lynn North Fire Station on Friday 16th January.

Firstly, the White Watch team delivered an interactive presentation focusing on dangers when driving – including driving under the influence of drink and drugs, and mobile phone use.

It was very interesting to see the differences in reaction time when distracted – such as when talking on handsfree devices – which was demonstrated by having a go on the timed reaction game.

We were then lucky enough to be able to witness a live vehicle cut out, where the team used a variety of tools and machinery to safety and quickly remove a casualty from a simulated road traffic collision.

Seeing the team in action, learning about the new battery powered tools making the job quicker and safer, and understanding their team’s roles was an incredible opportunity for our clients.

How these workshops have helped our clients

These workshops have had a meaningful impact on our clients, by providing practical, potentially life-saving knowledge tailored to their daily realities.

Beyond the practical learning, these sessions also help build confidence and trust. Clients are given the opportunity to engage positively with emergency services in a supportive environment, breaking down barriers and encouraging them to seek help when needed. This contributes to greater independence, improved decision-making, and a stronger sense of personal safety.

We run these workshops because prevention saves lives. By equipping people with the right information at the right time, we can reduce harm, support wellbeing, and help our clients navigate challenging circumstances more safely.

We are delighted to be continuing this amazing partnership with such an important service in our community. A huge thanks to Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service!
