Thank you The King’s Trust

Last week, a team from The King’s Trust gave up their time to give Purfleet a makeover!

The King’s Trust, formerly known as The Prince’s Trust, is a royal charity which supports vulnerable young people who are out of employment, education or at risk of exclusion.

Last week, a cohort of young people came down to The Purfleet Trust to redecorate our Training Room at the Health & Wellbeing Centre, and prepare our new allotment site at Wardles Chase, ready for planting!

Repainting the Training Room at the Health & Wellbeing Centre will ensure that in the future we can provide bespoke, engaging training to our clients to prepare them for sustainable and suitable employment and accommodation.

Meanwhile, preparing our new allotment for planting will allow us to be able to plant healthy, seasonable veg, encourage community involvement and educate families and children on healthy lifestyles.

The King’s Trust volunteering at Purfleet was made even more special as the young people involved chose to support us out of a number of local good causes.

One of the volunteers, Benjamin, said:

We chose Purfleet as what they do fits into our beliefs, and we like what they for the homeless and the community.

Fixing the allotment will give Purfleet a stepping stone to use it in the future.

He went on to describe what they had been up to over the course of the week at the allotment, including removing all the brambles, levelling out the ground, creating pathways and beds, fixing fencing and sanding and repainting our benches.

What a difference a week makes!

Can you help us?

If you are interested in helping out at our new allotment, you can!

Our new allotment project based at Wardles Chase aims to bring regular fresh, seasonal produce to the Purfleet Pantry, as well as getting the community involved on their doorstep and encouraging healthy lifestyles in our area.

In the coming months, we will begin planting seasonal veg ready for 2025!

If you are interesting in helping us out at our allotment, stay tuned to our website, newsletter and social media where news will be coming soon!
