Celebrating the King’s Award at the Town Hall

This week, our volunteers, staff and supporters came together to celebrate The Purfleet Trust receiving the King’s Award for Voluntary Service in the incredible surroundings of King’s Lynn Town Hall!

Back in November 2024, we were delighted to announce that we had been awarded the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, an award made in recognition of the exceptional work the Trust’s volunteers do for the benefit of vulnerable people and those experiencing homelessness in King’s Lynn.

The prestigious award is equivalent to an MBE. It is the highest honour a volunteer group can be given and is awarded for life.

This week, we invited our staff, supporters and wonderful volunteers to the brilliant surroundings of King’s Lynn Town Hall to officially accept the award from The Lady Dannatt MBE, HM Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk, on behalf of His Majesty The King.

Chief Executive, Paula Hall, said:

I am so grateful to the whole team here at Purfleet and to all of our volunteers who embody the spirit of community and generosity. Without their hard work and unwavering dedication, our work over the past 31 years would not have been possible.

Volunteer and supporter, Allan Bradley, said:

I’m so passionate about wanting people getting back to where they need to be and when I see someone succeed, and get back on the right track, I’m really happy. The staff, supporters and especially the volunteers make it all happen.

The event was a huge success and we were over the moon to be able to celebrate the award with our dedicated volunteers, staff and supporters from around West Norfolk.

We’d like to thank the phenomenal support from the businesses who supported the refreshments on the day, including Trinity Rotary Club, Sainsburys Hardwick, Tesco Hardwick, Booker King’s Lynn, Sandringham Apple Juice, and Bank House.

Volunteers make phenomenal difference here at Purfleet. Every year, more than 50 volunteers dedicate their time to initiatives such as the Purfleet Pantry, Health & Wellbeing Centre, and Purfleet Pathways warehouse. These projects collectively provide vital support to over 1000 individuals each year, offering housing support, positive pathways towards healthier lifestyles, affordable food and more.
